In removing the shift cable and replacing a mechanical cable pull operation with an electronic signal, we've effectively dealt with the IGH's one Achillies heel - a correctly adjusted shift cable. Other upgrades include a carbon fork to help offset some of the weight in the hub and TRP's excellent HyRd disc brakes that combine cable actuation with hydraulic power to great effect. As for charging with the battery mounted inside the seatpost? It couldn't be easier - there's a charge port on the handlebar-mounted junction box meaning the battery can be charged in-situ.
